If you are standing at the edge of such a colourful sea of flowers, you might be tempted to step in. However, we strongly urge you not to walk into the fields. The flowers and bulbs are easily damaged. Plant diseases and pests are also spread unnoticed. And that means considerable losses for the growers. So take your best flower photo or selfie at the edge of the field!

In Museum De Zwarte Tulp, you will discover the multifaceted story of the bulb culture: its centuries-old history, working the land with its seasonal rhythm, scientific research, export and tourist promotion. The museum also shows how artists have been inspired by bulbous plants throughout the centuries - and still are - to produce work of exceptional beauty.
The museum is housed in a building in the centre of Lisse that once served as a bulb depot.

View from the mound
In spring, walkers and cyclists can enjoy a panoramic view of the blossoming bulbous landscape. A new public viewing point has been built on the mound at the Tespelduyn Estate. It offers an expansive view of the surrounding bulbous landscape and the Keukenhof Estate. Here, you can experience the splendour of the landscape to the full.
On the information board, you can read about the surrounding area and the history of sand and bulb cultivation. The lookout point is located in Hollandse Duinen National Park and on the regional network of walking and cycling routes.
