Museum de Zwarte Tulp - Eternal Spring

The De Witte Zwaan Collection is a unique collection of art objects that focuses on bulbous plants. Additional objects have been brought in for this exhibition.

The collection has been on long-term loan from the De Witte Zwaan Foundation since 2015 and is a tribute to the flower bulb sector in which brothers Harry and Joop Zwetsloot, both from Lisse, were active for many years.

Starting in the 1980s, the Zwetsloot brothers began collecting art objects depicting bulbs and flowers such as tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils. With this collection, they aimed to showcase how artists from different eras and countries were inspired by the beauty of bulbous plants. The collection, now encompassing over ninety objects, ranges from paintings and drawings to ceramics and silverware.

A large portion of the collection is on permanent display at the museum. New acquisitions are regularly added, ensuring the presentation continues to grow and evolve. A section of the exhibition also focuses on the history of the De Witte Zwaan Foundation, which originated with HOBAHO. Both brothers were at the helm of this flower bulb brokerage company. The foundation owes its name to the company's logo, the white swan.
