Tulip picking garden

Programme from 12:00 to 16:00
This spring, Dorpshart Lisse is buzzing with a series of special activities for young and old. On Saturday 6 April, the Pluktuin will be at 't Vierkant in Dorpshart Lisse and there will be many more fun activities!

Tulip picking
Over 15,000 tulips will be displayed on 't Vierkant. At 12:00, the Tulip Picking Garden will be officially opened. Take the opportunity to come and pick your own bunch of tulips and take a selfie at the eye-catching large letters #keukenhof75, a perfect memento of this special edition of the Tulip Picking Garden.

Entry is FREE, but be quick 

Jacoba van Beieren
Jacoba van Beieren will officially open the picking garden at 12:00. Afterwards, she and her mother will walk around the village centre to tell her stories about the Bulb Region to visitors.

Face painting
The Magic Box will be present at 't Vierkant between 12:00 and 16:00 to provide children with beautiful face painting.

Performance of the Pretnoten
Music lovers can look forward to a performance by the Pretnoten, who will entertain young and old with their cheerful tunes and sing-alongs.

Route along historic Keukenhof posters
For those keen to discover more about Keukenhof's history, there is a special route and scavenger hunt along historical Keukenhof posters, which offer a fascinating insight into the evolution of the flower park. Tulips from the greenhouse
The tulips used for the picking garden come from the greenhouse. You can also grow tulips in water. The bulbs are then pressed onto pegs. It is very important that the bulbs are watered immediately. Specially made machines take care of that. The bulbs are placed in a cooling chamber. There, too, they receive sufficient water to prevent them from drying out. After about three weeks, the tulip bulbs leave the cold store and enter the warm greenhouse. The bulbs now have no soil from which to draw their nutrients. Therefore, growers have added nutrients to the water.

After about three to four weeks, the bulbs have grown into sturdy tulips. They are ready to be picked in the picking garden! In short, Saturday 6 April will be a cosy and especially colourful day in Dorpshart Lisse! Will you come too?
